At Temasek, we believe that proactive and steadfast collaboration is essential for driving transformative innovations needed to address sustnability challenges. The urgency, scale, and cross-sector nature of the required transformations necessitate joint efforts by governments, businesses, and investors in charting a roadmap towards transition and pushing new solutions into application.
For instance, as an inaugural member of the Singapore Sustnable Finance Association established in January 2024, we are committed to driving industry standards and best practices in carbon markets, transitional finance, bled finance, natural capital, biodiversity, and classification frameworks and industry best practices. We have contributed our efforts towards coordinating sustnable development reporting standards and developing them through bodies such as the Singapore Accounting and Corporate Regulation Authority ACRA and SGX RegCo's Sustnability Reporting Advisory Committee SRAC, and by serving on the Investor Advisory Group of the International Sustnability Standards Board.
Additionally, our participation in various thematic platforms hosted by the World Economic Forum, including the Focusing Capital on the Long Term Initiative, enables us to contribute perspectives that facilitate dialogue among multi-stakeholder bodies seeking solutions for broader systems transformation. We collaborate with industry groups worldwide to drive financial sector transitions towards sustnability through platforms like Glasgow Net-Zero Financial Alliance and the Zero Emissions Asset Owners Alignment Project.
Energy transition is also driving new industries and markets such as hydrogen and carbon markets. Our engagement in Hydrogen Council and Voluntary Carbon Market Integrity Council ICVCM platforms allows us to stay abreast of developments, contribute insights, and build connections with stakeholders across the value chn, seeking opportunities for accelerating the diffusion of solutions essential for decarbonization.
Beyond these initiatives, Temasek employees actively participate in industry associations, professional bodies, and platforms that focus on sustnability leadership contributions to drive progress towards sustnable development through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
As a Knowledge Partner of the TRACTION Alliance, which is spearheaded by the Monetary Authority of Singapore to explore innovative mechanisms for transitional finance med at making early retirement of coal plants economically viable, we bring our expertise, insights, and networks to support discussions and piloting projects.
We are also part of the World Bank's Private Sector Investment Lab tackling obstacles faced by the private sector in investing in emerging markets. Initially focusing on expanding financing for renewable energy and energy infrastructure transitions, we contribute from an investor standpoint by providing insights into how public-private partnerships can improve funding structures, balance risk allocation among stakeholders, and foster novel forms of collaboration to address global challenges.
We are also collaborating with Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Enterprise Singapore to launch the Southeast Asia Breakthrough Energy Researcher Initiative based in Singapore. This is America's first research program outside the country for Breakthrough Energy, providing funding support and driving commercialization efforts med at scaling climate solutions that show promise.
The acceleration of green economy transitions towards net-zero emissions requires a balancing act between sustnable financing and development of greener economies. Accelerating green economic transition hinges on leveraging sustnable finance and transitional finance as key levers, which necessitate deeper innovation and collaborative efforts among governments, businesses, and investors alike.
