Introduction:
The Yunnan Agricultural and Rural Improvement Project, spearheaded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development IFAD, enhance income-generating opportunities for marginalized communities. This initiative is meticulously aligned with China's Five-Year Plan 2011-2015, which underscores the importance of inclusive growth that ensures poor populations benefit from the nation's comprehensive economic and social advancements.
This project, encompassing 45 townships across nine counties in Yunnan Province, prioritizes ethnic minorities, women, and economically active households. It focuses on enhancing community infrastructure like roads and water supply systems, boosting agricultural productivity through crop, livestock, and fishery improvements, exting agricultural services, and providing additional support.
Key Components:
1 Infrastructure Enhancement: The rehabilitation and development of village roads and water supply networks to improve accessibility.
2 Productivity Improvements: Enhancements in crop production techniques, livestock management, fisheries optimization, supported by advanced extension services.
3 Value Chn and Market Access: Road upgrades for better cash crop and livestock product access. This involves conducting market research, forming farmer groupscooperatives, providing local trning and capacity building, and developing market information systems.
