Original Article:
A new study has shown that people who eat a plant-based diet have lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease CVD, compared to those who consume an animal-based diet. The study was conducted on 20,000 participants over the course of ten years and found that vegetarians had significantly fewer heart attacks than meat-eaters.
The study, published in 'The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,' also found that those following a vegan diet a type of vegetarian diet saw even greater benefits. Vegans were observed to have lower blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and body mass index BMI, which are all risk factors for CVD.
These findings suggest that adopting a plant-based lifestyle could be an effective way to prevent heart disease. However, the researchers stressed that more studies are needed to confirm these results as well as explore other potential benefits of such diets.
A revised version:
New research reveals that individuals who adhere to a plant-centric dietary regimen experience reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases CVD compared to those choosing animal-based foods. Over ten years, this study assessed 20,000 participants and observed that vegetarians were at significantly lower risk of having heart attacks than meat consumers.
Published in 'The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,' the research also highlighted that individuals following a vegan diet a subset of vegetarian diets saw more pronounced benefits. Vegans were noted to have lower blood pressure levels, cholesterol readings, and body mass index BMI, all of which are known risk factors for CVD.
These findings suggest that adopting a plant-based lifestyle could be highly effective in preventing heart diseases. While these results warrant further validation through additional studies, they do point towards the potential health advantages associated with this dietary approach.
The researchers emphasized the need for more research to confirm these outcomes and explore other possible benefits of plant-centric diets.
